Communities
On November 23rd Universal
Colors Cosmetics, Inc., will host a private event celebrating

the Washington Informer and La Nacion USA readers.
Orlando, FL (November,
2003) - Universal Colors Cosmetics launched their line
of fine cosmetics designed for “ethnic skin” at Douglas
Cosmetics & Fragrances in Washington, D.C. It will be
the retailer’s first supply of high-end products targeting
the wide range of skin tones among people of color.
The products have joined the ranks of Douglas’ extensive
line of world-class products such as: Estee Lauder,

African and other “World Music” will fill the air and
delicious exotic finger foods and refreshments will
be available. Universal Colors’ Cosmetics is looking
forward to the introduction of the line to the Hispanic
community in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan area because
they believe that too often, certain groups form our
society are left out of main stream beauty campaigns.

and wants to outwardly express the appreciation for
the beauty of the Latin and black populations. At the
event clients will have the opportunity to meet with
the company founder, model, actress and cosmetics executive,
Roda Ward-Carter. Douglas store manager Ines Fessler,
Douglas beauty advisors and a Universal Colors national

“We are pleased to launch
Universal Colors in Washington, D.C.,” said Ward-Carter,
“This is a very diverse market and is representative
of the clients we have attracted from all over the world.
This includes women and men of varying ethnic origins.
People of varying skin tones and types from African,
Asian, Latin, Indian and even Irish decent have a lot
in common, they all desire a smooth, young looking,
even toned complexion. They all want their foundation
to complement their skin tone without detection.” Petra
Collins, buyer for Douglas, added, “This product adds
a tremendous component to our portfolio of world-renowned
cosmetics. It offers wonderful skin care products and
unique shades of foundations to help satisfy our broad
customer base.”
Universal Colors’ skin
care products are allergy-free, dermatologist recommended,
non-comedogenic, and are not tested on animals. The
company utilizes many natural ingredients including
wheat germ and sesame oils, essence of chamomile, vitamins
A, C and E, grape seed extract and real Dead Sea Mud.
These are particularly beneficial to people with combination
and oily skin and are amazingly effective for numerous
skin problems. According to dermatologists, “Ethnic
skin, or skin with more active melanin-producing cells
has special needs, the components of these products
target these needs, providing products that are perfectly
tailored to these skin types.” In addition, these particular
ingredients are highly effective in soothing, healing
and maintaining the smoother new surface for post-operative
procedures and slightly invasive treatments such as
micro-dermabrasion and peels.
The company’s portfolio
of products includes cleansing products; moisturizers;
problem-solvers; foundations and lip and face palettes.
Prices range from $14.50 - $38.50. Universal Colors
Cosmetics, which is now worn by numerous Hollywood figures,
will also be featured in the upcoming film, Beauty Shop:
the Movie, produced by Queen Latifa, and starring Mo’nique
Imes-Jackson; Kellita Smith and Missy Elliott. In addition
to product placement, the Universal Colors team will
also be featured in the film. The film is scheduled
to be released in 2004.
